'Russians must be hanged' - Heavy shellings and 'truce' messages from the Ukrainian army during Easter ceasefire
While following an Easter cakes distribution on the front line on Monday, we were able to assess how the new ceasefire (which entered into force on the 12th April at 10 AM) was respected by the Ukrainian army.
In Zaytsevo, the soldiers confirmed us that there was no ceasefire, and that the Ukrainian army shelled their positions the day before with mortars (including 120 mm). Amongst the mortar shells remains they found one with a 'nice' message :
“Russians must be hanged. Ukraine's glory has not yet died, nor her freedom. Upon us, compatriots, fate shall smile once more. Ukraine will win.”
On another position, there was a huge pile of rockets and shells remains, which fell recently on this area of the village. As we can see, the peaceful resolution of the conflict is not in the Ukrainian authorities' agenda.
After distributing the cakes in Zaytsevo and Gorlovka, we ended in Yasinovataya, before returning to Donetsk. Just after we left Yasinovataya, we could hear and see behind us huge shellings from the Ukrainian army, on the DPR army positions located between Avdeyevka and Yasinovataya, and then on Yasinovataya itself and the area near Spartak.
