Work of MTS-Ukraine mobile phone provider has been disrupted in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) as a result of damaging the cable by the Ukrainian military near the locality of Elenovka south of Donetsk, Communications Minister Viktor Yatsenko states.

"The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have cut the cable of the MTS-Ukraine going towards Elenovka. Due to this reason, there is no connection of the MTS," added the Minister.

He added that at present experts tried to find an opportunity to restore the damaged cable and resume the provider's work on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

Apart from it, the LPR Communication and Mass Media Ministry had also reported MTS mobile network ceased its operation in the region because of cable damage in the DPR territory.

“On 11th January, at about 02:10 pm, total cessation of Ukrainian mobile operator “MTS - Ukraine” subscribers’ service in the LPR territory took place,” says the text of the statement.

According to the Ministry’s experts, the damage of the main fiber-optic cable occurred in the Elenovka locality’s area.
